As the previous reviewer, I am a photography enthusiast, without professional training of any kind, and was looking for a good source of inspiration for a shoot! I was in search of a source of inspiration and advise. That is, by far, not what you get with this book at all. A “Nude Posing Guide” sounds to me as a text which explains and illustrates different techniques to pose a model, what to do if you want such result, etc. I wasn’t lucky with this one!

First, text! The complete text in this book is probably about 200 words, and this includes both the title and the “all rights reserved”. Second, the pictures themselves seem very dated (and dated to the 70s I would say!), and the lighting is poorly done. Either too much or too little. Many times you see only the silhouette, you can’t even distinguish the pose itself. Third, as if lighting was not bad enough, the pictures are minute, in some cases as little as less than an inch in diagonal! And it seems a dot printer was used to produce the book!

I really doubt this would be useful for anyone, but certainly, not for me!

I was looking for a resource for myself and one that I could share with new models to give them ideas on how to pose, but the pictures are small and of poor quality. It resembles newspaper print quality. The “click to look inside” preview shows clear pictures, but it does not accurately represent the pictures from this paperback book. The book is also arranged in an unorganized fashion. You will have a few chair pictures on one page mixed with other poses, then a few pages later you will find more chair pictures (of the same girl and the same chair). This happens throughout the book with different chairs, stools, various props, studio, outdoor, standing, sitting, silhouettes, etc, there is no order. Finally the posing positions in the book breaks almost every “rule” there is on posing models (e.g. location and position of hands, bad cropping techniques). Also, if you notice the size of the book is about 6X9 and there are anywhere from 12 to 16 pictures on each page, making the pictures much too small to see any detail.

Being new to photography and working with models for a nude session, I wanted a book that would be a great resource for different poses and give me additional ideas. I was looking for something that gave an artist style. Although the book is filled with ideas, the images, which are thumbnails, are not of a high image quality. Another flaw, to me, is that the poses seem to be a little outdated and not more modern. This might be the style you are looking for, but if you are looking for more of a modern glamor style, you might want to see what other books are available.
